How nutrition can affect your dog’s health

Learn how diet can impact your dog’s health and how to help.

Vomiting and/or diarrhea

If your dog has a sensitive stomach and tends to vomit frequently or if their stools are more of a mush pile than an easily picked up log, the diet may be playing a role in their less than optimal gastrointestinal tract. Meet with a Dutch veterinarian to get diet recommendations and discuss the various options to reset their GI tract.

It’s estimated that 60% of dogs are overweight or obese. Chronic obesity leads to a variety of health conditions and a lifetime study of labs found that dogs that were overweight had a shorter life by almost 2 years. Schedule an online vet visit with Dutch to speak with a vet if your pet is overweight. Dutch vets will create a treatment plan to shed those pounds and keep your dog in peak condition.

While some dogs struggle with too much weight, others can have the opposite problem. If your dog is struggling to put on weight, there may be underlying issues at play that need to be addressed — from an inability to absorb the nutrients to chronic intestinal parasites. Schedule an online vet visit with Dutch to discuss the reasons and options for helping your pet achieve a healthy weight.

Picky eater

If your dog turns their nose up to their food regularly, our vets may be able to help determine if this is a behavioral issue or if there could be an underlying reason why your pet is so picky. They can also give you strategies to make meal time more consistent. Schedule your Dutch online vet visit today.

Confused about pet foods?

With all of the marketing, opinions, and pet food fads that exist, it’s hard to know what to believe and what’s real. Cut through all of the hype and speak with a Dutch vet who can guide you through the maze of pet food marketing.
