What is Trifexis?

Trifexis® is a beef-flavored chewable tablet for dogs that kills fleas and prevents flea infestations, prevents heartworm disease, and treats and controls adult hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm infections. This is a 6-month supply.

What does Trifexis treat?

Trifexis is a monthly medication that:

  • Kills fleas and prevents flea infestations 
  • Prevents heartworm disease
  • Treats and controls adult hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm infections

How is Trifexis given?

Give Trifexis once a month with food for maximum effectiveness. This chewable, beef-flavored tablet that can be given as a treat. 

Who is Trifexis for?

Dogs and puppies 8 weeks and older, weighing 5 lbs or more

What are the active ingredients of Trifexis?

The active ingredients in Trifexis are Spinosad and milbemycin oxime. 

What are the possible side effects of Trifexis?

When used as prescribed, side effects while using Trifexis are rare. The most common side effects include vomiting, fatigue (lethargy), itchy skin, lack of appetite, diarrhea, trembling/shaking, lack of coordination, drooling, reddening of the skin, and seizures.

Safety Information

Use with caution in breeding females. The safe use of TRIFEXIS in breeding males has not been evaluated. Use with caution in dogs with pre-existing epilepsy. Puppies less than 14 weeks of age may experience a higher rate of vomiting.1
