Why pet owners are switching to online vet care with Dutch

  • Prescriptions delivered free to you

  • Fast access to Licensed Vets over video

  • Unlimited video visits and follow-ups

Dutch is proud to announce that it’s been one year since we launched our telemedicine services to help pets and pet parents navigate the complexities of veterinary care. Dutch, created by pet parents for pet parents, uses a science-backed approach to provide dogs and cats the support they need for everyday problems in the comfort of their own homes.

With Dutch, you don't have to worry about making nervous dogs more anxious at in-person vet clinics. Instead, your dog or cat can receive quality care and prescription medications to improve their quality of life and treat specific health concerns without ever leaving the house.

In celebration of our first year, we want to share some fun data with you to highlight how much telemedicine can help pets and provide pet parents with peace of mind.

During Dutch’s first year, we saw pets in 50 states

Who Are We?

Dutch launched in July 2021 and was inspired by our founder and CEO Joe Spector's experience with pets. Seeing for himself that dogs can suffer from anxiety, Spector realized there was an opportunity to create a form of accessible vet care for pets in the same way telemedicine supports human health.

Dutch's telemedicine for pets provides better access to veterinary care for dogs and cats. In our first year, we saw pets in all 50 states, offering them high-quality, specialized care. When comparing Dutch vs. in-person vet visits, pet parents can expect:

  • Access to a vet within 24 hours: Need help after your regular vet has closed for the day? Dutch allows you the convenience of meeting with a vet on your schedule to help your pet get the care they need without the hassle.
  • Unlimited video calls and messages: Schedule unlimited calls from home, or chat with our licensed vets throughout the day to ensure your pet is living their healthiest life. Dutch-affiliated vets can prescribe medicine and provide behavioral support without needing to leave your home.
  • Customized treatment plans: Dutch can help you find an online vet who writes prescriptions to help manage your pet's health concerns, including pain and anxiety.
  • Free shipping on medications: Shipping is free on every order to ensure your pet can get the medications they need, no matter what.
  • Ongoing & follow-up care: With a Dutch-affiliated vet on your side, you can ensure you're doing everything right as a pet parent. Our vets will follow up with you and provide ongoing support to pets that need it.

Who Is Dutch For?

Dutch provides convenience for pet parents and pets by allowing them to get the care they need from the comfort of their homes. With Dutch, you don't have to worry about making an already anxious dog more anxious by taking them to the vet–a place where other dogs or people could cause additional stress. Dutch offers more simplicity and improves accessibility for pets and pet parents who can’t get around as easily. Plus, telemedicine appointments are convenient, taking less time than the average in-clinic vet visit.

Dutch is a televet solution for dog and cat parents who want their pets treated timely. With Dutch, you can eliminate unnecessary and stressful vet visits by connecting with a vet via video chat for advice and OTC medications.

Now, you can have access to a vet no matter what time of day it is. In the last year, 69% of our calls were outside of standard vet office hours, demonstrating a need for pet parents to have better access to vets.

Dutch members have had over 22,000 messages with vets

Since our launch, Dutch members have had over 22,000 messages with vets, helping with 153 health issues, including:

Average time to see vet in-person = 2 weeks ; Average time to see a Dutch vet = less than 24 hours.

Did you know? It can take the traditional in-clinic vet up to two weeks before you can get an appointment. But with Dutch, you can talk to a vet any time of day, drastically reducing the time it takes to see a vet to 24 hours

Who We Helped In Our First Year

Dutch's mission is to provide better access to pet care to ensure no health condition goes untreated. Dutch allows pet owners a more cost-effective and timely way to handle pet concerns while helping pets that suffer from anxiety avoid the stress of going to the vet.

Our oldest cat and dog treated was 18 years old

Check out these fun stats from our first year helping pets:

  • Oldest patient was 18 years old: Our oldest cat and dog we treated were eighteen years old, which is fairly common for small breeds. Dutch is proud to help pets of all ages get the care they need, from puppies that need healthy diets to senior dogs who need help with mobility.
  • Most popular dog breed was the pit bull terrier: Dutch-affiliated vets help dog breeds of all kinds, ranging from small to large, to help treat specific conditions.
  • Most popular cat breed was the domestic shorthair: Domestic shorthair cats are some of the most popular cat breeds in the world, but we can help any cat live a longer, healthier, less stressful life.

Our most popular cat name was Luna and most popular dog name was Bella

We also discovered that the most popular cat name of the patients we saw in the last year was Luna, while the most popular dog name was Bella.

How Does Dutch Work?

Dutch is a subscription-based service that allows pet parents unlimited access to licensed veterinarians. Once you choose your subscription type, you can schedule a video chat with a vet to begin getting veterinary care for your pet from the comfort of your own home.

After the preliminary conversation, a vet will provide you with an individualized treatment plan based on your dog's or cat's needs and medical history. If your pet's plan includes prescription medication, your vet will prescribe the medication and add it to your cart to verify that you are in a state that allows telehealth prescriptions. Prescriptions will ship free to your home.

Once you begin your treatment plan, you'll receive follow-ups and pet care moving forward. So whether your dog or cat is still struggling with a condition or you have more concerns about your pet, a Dutch vet is always here to help.

Signing up for a Dutch subscription is easy; all you have to do is answer a few questions about your pet and choose a subscription plan. We offer monthly or annual subscriptions to help you find the most affordable and convenient way to support your pet. Once you sign up, you can begin chatting with our licensed veterinarians who will review your pet's information to learn more about their needs and start developing a plan to improve your dog's health and quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is veterinary telemedicine?

Veterinary telemedicine offers pets the chance to get treatment without the hassle or stress of going to a vet in-person. Telemedicine for pets offers improved access to pet care, the ability to get help from specialists outside of your area, increased efficiency in diagnosis and treatment, and better convenience for pets and pet parents.

Veterinary telemedicine can especially benefit anxious pets that might get stressed during in-person vet visits. Of course, not every pet problem can be treated via telemedicine, especially emergencies. However, veterinary telemedicine can diagnose and treat a variety of conditions without the need for an in-person vet visit.

What conditions does Dutch treat?

Dutch treats a variety of conditions, including anxiety, digestive issues, flea and tick care, ear infections, behavioral problems, and more.. No matter which common pet condition your dog or cat is suffering from, our vets create personalized treatment plans based on their needs.

What is included in a Dutch membership?

Dutch offers two options for memberships: monthly and annual, to help you save on your pet care. Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Dutch?

Dutch is an online veterinary pet telehealth service, created by pet parents and board-certified veterinary specialists. We use a science-backed approach to provide pets relief for their everyday physical and behavioral health issues. Dutch connects you with licensed veterinarians over video chat and messaging to help you get care for your dog or cat quickly wherever you are — without the stress or expense of a vet visit. We also partner with pharmacies who can deliver prescription medication (in applicable states only) and over-the-counter treatments directly to your door. Dutch isn’t a veterinary practice or pharmacy, but a company that helps facilitate these services for pet parents to make veterinary care more accessible to all.

What is a visit with Dutch like?

When booking a video call with a vet, you'll be asked a few questions about your pet’s health issue. Depending on the issue, you may also be asked to fill out a longer questionnaire about their symptoms and share photographs of them so our veterinarians can better understand what’s going on. You’ll then pick an appointment time that works best for you.

During your video call, one of our licensed veterinarians will talk to you about the symptoms your pet is experiencing, ask you questions, review your pet’s medical history if you’ve provided it, and answer any questions you have. The vet will ask to see your pet and their environment. And they may ask you to perform some simple checks on them if needed.

After your video call, the vet will send you a message with a custom treatment plan to help your pet feel better, including a link to buy any recommended prescription or over-the-counter medications. Place your order and we’ll ship it free.

How much will it cost for Dutch to treat my pet?

The Dutch membership starts at $7/mo for unlimited access to the vet. No more long waits for appointments or surprise bills.

In addition to the base membership plan, our veterinarians may also recommend additional medication (Rx and/or OTC) that you will have the option of adding to your plan at an additional cost.
